The TradeUSA Department of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce successfully organized an exclusive meeting in Athens, featuring Ms. Reta Jo Lewis, President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM). More than 25 prominent companies from various sectors participated in this significant event.
EXIM, the official export credit agency of the United States, is an independent Executive Branch agency. Its mission is to facilitate the export of U.S. goods and services through financial assistance in the form of loans, guarantees, and insurance. This support helps American businesses compete globally, while Greek businesses can leverage EXIM programs to accelerate their international growth. By leveling the playing field for U.S. exporters, EXIM fosters economic growth and job creation both domestically and internationally.
The event commenced with opening remarks by AmCham President Mr. Bakatselos, who emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to facilitating strategic partnerships and providing valuable insights into international trade opportunities. He stated, “Today, we are taking an important step towards expanding our business horizons and tapping into the vast potential that EXIM’s programs offer.”
Ms. Reta Jo Lewis, President of EXIM, underscored EXIM’s mission to facilitate exports and support the creation of U.S. jobs. She highlighted EXIM’s work on both bilateral and multilateral levels, and noted that since 2019, their mandate has expanded to include financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the renewable energy sector, energy efficiency and storage, and sub-Saharan Africa. She concluded, “We want to be your partner. We can only go up from here in Greece!”
The event showcased how EXIM can be an ideal partner in supporting companies’ international growth efforts with its extensive expertise, resources, and capabilities. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how EXIM can assist their companies in navigating the complexities of the U.S. market and leveraging financing solutions to enhance their competitive edge in a rapidly changing world.
