The Leadership Committee of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce organized on July 7th 2020, a private event at the gardens of Gennadius Library, entitled: “In the Shadow of Kadmos: Excavating Ancient Eleon in Boeotia” with Brendan Burke, PhD, Associate Professor, Greek and Roman Studies, University of Victoria.
Dr. Brendan Burke from the University of Victoria and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens spoke about how archaeological projects in Greece are conducted by members of foreign archaeological schools. He discussed his archaeological survey and excavation in central Greece (Boeotia) which began in 2007 as a synergasia with Dr. Vassilis Aravantinos. The work continues now in collaboration with Dr. Alexandra Charami of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Boeotia. Their work at the site of ancient Eleon provides valuable opportunities for students and researchers to collaborate on new archaeological discoveries.
