The “Doing Business with the U.S. Defense Sector” Seminar was held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Organized by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce at the Armed Forces Officers’ Club (LAED), the scope of the seminar was to familiarize Greek companies from the wider defense sector with the defense related U.S. market.
Over 40 representatives from Greek companies participated in the seminar and were informed on how they can enter the U.S market and explore opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with the U.S. defense sector. The instructors of the seminar covered with detailed presentations essential topics such as the necessary processes, systems, government players in Europe, key steps of government contracting, and available opportunities.
On behalf of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, the Secretary General Alexandros Costopoulos, welcomed the participants and spoke about the Chamber’s steady commitment to supporting the growth potential of the broader Greek defense industry.
Colonel Ioannis Oikonomidis, from the Procurement and Material Utilization Department of the General Directorate of Defense Equipment and Investments welcomed the participants emphasizing the added value of this initiative.
The main instructor of the seminar was Roberto Tomaiuolo, Senior Program/Project Manager Expert in complex international projects | Project Management and Contracting Advisor and Teacher, and former AUSA President of the Mediterranean Chapter. Additionally, Scott Miller, CEO of KAIRO LLC, Anthony Garner, CEO, Garner Family Global LLC and former Navy Commander, and Dimitrios Arkoumanis, Army FMS Specialist at the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC-Greece) of the U.S. Embassy in Greece, shared their valuable knowledge and expertise by presenting practical details and advised the Greek companies how to effectively approach the defense related U.S. market.
